I just realized that Clark Kent probably works at the Daily Planet because it means he and his super-senses are planted right in the middle of a bunch of investigative journalists all day long. He probably knows more about Metropolis’ corruption and abuses of power than anyone else in the world, just by virtue of existing in the Daily Planet’s vicinity.

I imagine also that he works there for the reverse reason.
Think about all the things he knows about the people in positions of power in the city that Really Should be made known to the public, but he can’t figure out a way to legitimately excuse having that knowledge?
Well, all he has to do is drop a hint of a thread in the lap of someone like Lois Lane and his coworkers and friends will be on it like bloodhounds, with a firm air of legitimacy that he himself would never, ever have. Because honestly? Clark Kent probably knows that “I heard about it with my magic alien hearing” isn’t and SHOULDN’T be admissible in a court of law or public opinion. But aiming some good old fashioned investigative journalists in the most competitive news organisation in the city at it? Perfectly legitimate.

Villain: “Hah! What are you going to do, punch me for tax evasion? Lock me up for conspiracy? With what court-admissible evidence? Admit it Superman, there’s nothing you can do here.”

Superman: “Guess not.”

Later, Clark Kent at the Daily Planet watching his colleagues work: “My god, they’re like bureaucratic piranhas. They went through his entire IRS filings for the last eight quarters in thirty minutes flat.”

You know this got me thinking, what is Clark’s news articles like? Did he ever win a Pulitzer Prize like Lois? Is he a good writer?

Clark is an editor, he’s Lois’s editor. He’s the best editor because no one can proof read and spell check as fast as him. The few times he’s gone out on a story is because the Daily Planet was spread thin or short staffed.

I rewatched Lord of the Rings the other day and you know what I really appreciate?

The men are so tender.

They cry, and kiss each other’s foreheads, and hug, and call each other ‘my friend’ and ‘my dear’; they’re respectful to women and faithful to their partners; they have banter without being creepy and sleazy, and literally none of that stops them from being considered “manly”.

More Lord of the Rings men please.

Hey, maybe you should acknowledge that you were an obnoxious fucking teenager no one wanted to be around? Adults have hardships just as commonly, and no one owes you to be super nice to you when you’re being repellant. ESPECIALLY complete strangers. You were annoying because you were mourning and going through a lot, but you were fucking annoying nevertheless.

teachers absolutely literally owed me their time and attention when I was failing school because my dad died in a house fire based on the very simple concept that is: they went into a profession that is 100% based on them giving children their time and attention you absolute fucking walnut. I hope you never do anything that requires showing base compassion to children because you sound sorta…uh, like a bad person! but thanks for playing!

Alarming that someone considers a 16 year old failing classes and sometimes crying in the bathroom after losing their parent and house in a fire as “being repellent.” I don’t usually make complete character judgements of a person based on a single interaction but here we are!

What a terrible thing to say about a teenager suffering. Yes, teenagers are weird but that’s because they’re barely out of being weird kids and are trying to figure out how to be good adults AND dealing with puberty.

I used to teach music to kids and I had this boy (15) who came to a lesson very quiet. About five minutes in he suddenly burst into tears and sobbed at me that his girlfriend had dumped him. As an adult, you know that this kid is going to be okay. He’ll move on. There will be others. Yadda yadda. However, to him this is a brand new experience, his heart is broken and he has no skills or practice handling a situation like this. We sat there and chatted and joked and played some tunes he liked before he left without any evidence of his little breakdown. Next week he was his normal sunny self.

I was an adult with experience in this situation and more than that I was in a caretaker/teaching position. Educating kids doesn’t mean throwing facts at them and then going home. You need to help them be good, healthy people as well.

Anyway, not to hijack someone else’s post but yeah, vampireapologist 100% deserved care and consideration from the caretakers in their life. Every kid deserves to feel safe and have a hand ready to help them through hard times.

They say they were just “cleaning up the polls” of people who haven’t voted in over three years, but I wonder how many names of people who did vote recently were “accidentally” included in the wipe.

Even if you voted in the last election, please go check your status. These changes happened over the weekend in early September.

If your not registered to vote, register

And if you are registered to vote, keep double checking that this is still the case (And if it’s not, re-register)

I know it’s annoying but it doesn’t take long to do and honestly with all the blatant dirty tricks the Republicans are pulling and their complete disregard for the law it’s better to be safe than sorry…

Can anyone explain to me any real reason to purge voter rolls? Like, it’s one thing if they drop people who haven’t voted in a decade or something. But there’s just no need to do this so much. Except it’s the only way Republicans win. Because they’re corrupt fucks.

Iwillvote.com allows you to check if you are still registered to vote or to registerif you needd to.
