It’s been so long since I drew anything Mass Effect related, but I guess it’s good timing because of the Mass Effect: Andromeda hype is getting real now. So have some Kaidan just to REMIND YOU that Kaidan is there and he will always love you even when you’re screaming about new characters.
In ME1, if you ask Kaidan if he and his fellow teens at Jump Zero found ‘other ways to occupy yourselves,’ he tells Shepard that he ‘doesn’t do that sort of thing. Not lightly, anyway.’
If you romance him throughout ME1 but turn down sex at the end, the romance carries on into ME2 anyway.
If you romance him as mShep, he asks if, in all the time Shepard’s known him, ‘Have you ever known me to be with anyone? Guess I’m choosy, or patient, or… I don’t know.’ And then he says, ‘What I’ve never found, what I want, is something deeper with someone I already care about.’
In Citadel, you can just cuddle on the sofa instead of heading to the bedroom. Before the final mission, he’s (I think?) the only LI with whom turning down sex doesn’t make them leave – the others only get a ‘I need to be alone’ option. But you can tell Kaidan you don’t want to right now, and he’ll understand instantly and stay there with you. (With femshep, anyway, I have no idea why that option’s not there for mShep – but she can play the entire series without ever sleeping with him once.)
In conclusion? I’m pretty sure Kaidan Alenko is demi or grey-ace, thank you for coming to my TED talk.
